Chicago man attempts to steal electronics from Target

Police arrested a Chicago resident in connection with a theft Monday at Target, 2209 Howard St., Evanston Police Department spokesman Perry Polinski said.

A loss prevention employee at Target saw the 56-year-old walk out with items from the store. He confronted the man outside the building and notified police, Polinski said.

Polinski said loss prevention allegedly recovered a set of headphones and a Nintendo Wii from the man.

Evanston man hears someone in his basement

Someone broke into a 33-year-old Evanston man’s home in the 800 block of Judson Avenue on Monday, Polinski said.

Polinski said he resident notified police of a suspicious person in the basement of the residence, and he notified the building manager after calling the police.

Apparently the activity upstairs startled the burglar, which led him to make his way to the front door and escape the residence, Polinski said.

When police arrived, the resident noticed the burglar had taken a power drill, valued at $60, from his work bench, Polinski said.
