Northwestern honored four faculty who earned the 2026 Daniel I. Linzer Award for Faculty Excellence in Service for their positive contributions to the University in a reception Monday.
Presented by the Office of the Provost, the award provides each winner with a $5,000 award.
Physics and astronomy Prof. Vicky Kalogera leads the Center for Interdisciplinary Exploration and Research in Astrophysics and directs the NSF-Simons AI Institute for the Sky. She is also a member and chair of many University committees.
Instructional Technologies Librarian Ted Quiballo was honored for the technical help he provided in classrooms across campus. He works in the MakerLab and Video Production Studio at Mudd Library.
Weinberg Language Resource Center Co-Director and Asian languages and cultures Prof. Noriko Taira Yasohama directed the ALC department from 2013-2023. She also holds leadership positions on two committees about language learning at NU.
McCormick Prof. Sara Sood received the award for her work in the computer science department and mentorship of faculty on the teaching track. She also helped launch the interdisciplinary artificial intelligence minor in fall 2024, which has since expanded.
