In 2017, Art Encounter launched its Evanston Mural Arts Program, a series that partners with schools, business districts, and local organizations. The program allows professional artists to feature their work in Evanston’s public spaces, seeking not “walls to paint” but “partners to serve,” according to its mission statement.
Jason Brown and Lea Pinsky painted these three murals in 2018. According to Brown, the painting was premised on getting “the community, the next generation, involved to make it truly theirs.”
