Evanston and Chicago-area residents crowded Central Street for the city’s annual Fourth of July parade Saturday. To celebrate the United States’ 250th anniversary, 76 bands, dance groups and community organizations marched down the street starting at 2 p.m. Despite concerns of rain, both the parade and 9:30 p.m. fireworks on the lakefront continued as originally scheduled.
