Northwestern is the No. 1 overall seed in the NCAA Division I Women’s Lacrosse Championship, the NCAA announced Sunday.
The Wildcats have earned a top-4 seed in each tournament since 2019 and most recently were awarded the No. 1 seed in both 2023 and 2024.
Since NU is a top-3 seed, the team will host a three-team regional. James Madison and Notre Dame will play in the first round Friday, and the ’Cats face the winner in the second round Sunday. Both games will be hosted at Northwestern Medicine Field at Martin Stadium.
NU, the Big Ten champion, is entering tournament play on a 10-game winning streak, having not lost since March 15 against Ohio State.
James Madison, the American Conference champion, is coming off a 17-7 victory over USF in the conference championship game.
Notre Dame most recently lost to Clemson in the ACC quarterfinals.
Should the ’Cats advance past the second round, they would host the winner of the Boulder regional, where Colorado, Denver, Florida and Jacksonville will play in the first round.
First draw for NU’s second round matchup is set for 1 p.m.
