Northwestern placed third in women’s team sabre at the 2026 Division I & Parafencing National Championship / April North American Cup on Sunday.
Hosted by USA Fencing, the event was held at the Greater Richmond Convention Center in Richmond, Virginia from April 24 to 27. Collegiate individual and team fencers were invited alongside parafencing, veteran age, veteran combined and junior level fencers.
The bronze medal team consisted of junior sabreist Adele Bois, sophomore sabreist Nisha Hild, junior sabreist Amy Lu and senior sabreist Megumi Oishi.
Freshman épéeists Angelica Xiong and Natasha Lee, and senior épéeist Karen Wang placed sixth in the women’s team épée on Sunday, as well.
On Friday, Hild took 17th in the women’s individual saber. Freshman sabreist Elaine Lu placed 49th, and sophomore sabreist Natalie Shearer landed at 121st. In the women’s individual épée, Wang earned 12th, épéeist Amanda Pirkowski (Medill M.S. ’25) took 44th, Lee earned 48th and Xiong finished in 63rd.
Last month, NU competed at the 2026 NCAA Fencing Championships in South Bend, Indiana, from March 19-20. There, Elaine Lu placed seventh in the women’s sabre, landing her a Second Team All-America distinction, and the team earned sixth overall with 54 victories along the way.
