Junior Greyson Casey and sophomore Carter Pate will be one of four doubles teams competing for a 2026 US Open wild card entry at the USTA American Collegiate Player Wildcard Playoffs in June, Northwestern Athletics announced Wednesday.
Casey and Pate will travel to the USTA National Campus’ Collegiate Center in Orlando, Florida, for the tournament from June 17 to 18. They will face Indiana’s Michael Andre and Matteo Antonescu, Ohio State’s Brandon Carpico and Nikita Filin, and Stanford’s Alex Chang and Alex Raghezi. The tournament winner will enter the US Open main draw.
Playing at No. 1 doubles, Casey and Pate held a perfect 17-0 record during the 2026 dual season and became the first Wildcat doubles team to go undefeated in a single season. They peaked in ITA rankings at No. 18 in doubles teams nationwide before landing at No. 34 at the end of the year.
As doubles partners, Casey and Pate defeated then-No. 66 Matic Kriznik and Vit Kalina at Alabama, and duos at No. 24 Notre Dame and No. 51 Nebraska. In March, the pair beat the No. 18 doubles pairing for Michigan State and led against Carpico and Filin, the No. 1-ranked duo in the nation, before the match went unfinished.
The USTA playoff event, which is in its second year, can be watched on Cracked Racquets. All matches are slated to start at 5:30 p.m. CT.
