No. 41 Northwestern placed twelfth in a sixteen-team field, and senior Daniel Svärd finished tied for fourteenth individually at the Augusta Haskins Award Invitational. The two-day tournament, the penultimate event of NU’s regular season, took place at the Forest Hills Golf Club in Augusta, Georgia, over the weekend.

Svärd was the only Wildcat to end the tournament with under par, finishing 9-under 207. The next-best ’Cat, sophomore Mark Gazi, finished at even par, placing fiftieth individually. 

Each of the tournament’s three rounds consisted of a standard 18-hole course with a par of 72.

Svärd completed the first round in 69 strokes, shooting 3-under par. Redshirt sophomore Rowan Sullivan followed close behind, finishing the round in 70 strokes. Senior Ethan Tseng was the final ’Cat to end the first round under par, shooting 1-under par. Gazi and freshman Monty Holcombe finished 1-over par and 7-over par, respectively. 

In the second round, Svärd improved on his result, finishing in 68 strokes for a 4-under par. Holcombe completed the round 2-under par, his best result of the tournament. Tseng saw his worst showing of the weekend, shooting a 5-over 77. Sullivan and Gazi also finished above par. 

Gazi finished under par for the first time in the third round, completing the round in 69 strokes. Svärd and Tseng both shot 2-under par, while Holcombe finished 1-under par. Only Sullivan finished above par, completing the round in 76 strokes for a 4-over. 

At the end of the tournament, NU’s team result was a 16-under par. Tseng finished 2-over, landing at 56th individually. Sullivan ended 60th with a 3-over, and Holcombe finished 62nd with a 4-over.

NU heads to Bloomington, Indiana for the Hoosier Collegiate for its last tournament of the regular season from April 18 to 19.
