In her second win of the season and third of her career, senior Dianna Lee took home the Sun Coast Spartan Invitational trophy over the weekend. She led Northwestern to a team victory, leaving the tournament as the only player to finish at or below par in all three rounds.
NU finished four shots ahead of Oklahoma to take first place, scoring 884 to the latter’s 888 across 54 holes. At the individual level, four Wildcats placed in the top 25.
Lee finished four under par with an overall score of 212. She matched the par in her first two rounds but carded a 4-under 72 in the final, propelling her to victory.
Sophomore Megan Meng finished 17th after earning a tournament-best score of one above par in the final round. She carded a double bogey in her first round and a 4-over 72 in the following round, giving her a final score of 223, seven above par.
Finishing tied for 19th, sophomore Hsin Tai Lin also scored a double bogey in the first round and a bogey in the final. Combined with her second-round score of 77, her first- and third-round results put her at 224 at the end of the tournament.
Junior Ashley Yun carded a tournament-best 2-under 70 in her last round, the lowest score of any ’Cat in a single round. However, she finished with a double bogey and nine above par in the first and second rounds, respectively, landing her in a tie for 23rd place.
Freshman Lauren E. Lee and senior Jiayi Wang finished tied for 79th and 81st, respectively.
The ’Cats return to play at the Darius Rucker Intercollegiate in Hilton Head Island, South Carolina on March 2 to 4.
