Following a pre-match Senior Day ceremony honoring graduate student Britany Lau, senior Sydney Pratt and senior Kiley Rabjohns, Northwestern women’s tennis played its final home match with a 4-1 loss to Illinois Saturday at the Vandy Christie Tennis Center.
Illinois struck first with dominant doubles play, including obtaining a ranked win at the No. 1 doubles spot over Lau and freshman Mika Dagan Fruchtman. In singles, Pratt delivered the lone point for NU, battling back from a set down for a three-set win at the No. 4 slot, as she secured her team-leading 15th singles victory.
Despite early leads on multiple courts, NU couldn’t shift the tide as Illinois clinched the match with a win at the No. 6 singles position before any further comebacks could develop.
