Entering the final round of the Ping ASU Invitational in Phoenix, Arizona, junior Dianna Lee stood six strokes under par, good enough for fourth place.
By shooting four strokes under par on Sunday, tied for second best among the field, Lee finished with a 10-under 206, winning the individual title. Paced by Lee, No. 12 Northwestern finished second in the team competition.
It marked Lee’s first first-place finish in her career. She shot a 2-under 70 on the first day, followed by two 4-under 68 on Saturday and Sunday en route to her first-place finish.
The Wildcats shot a 23-under team score, only placing behind No. 9 Arizona State’s 36-under. NU finished first in the Ping ASU Invitational in both 2023 and 2024. The ’Cats’ best day on Sunday coincided with Lee’s best day, as NU shot 10 under on the final day of action.
Alongside Lee’s individual champion crown, the ’Cats had four other players finish in the top 15.
Freshman Elise Lee finished seventh, shooting a 5-under 54 211. By shooting a 4-under 212, sophomore Ashley Yun finished in eighth and had her team-best 13th competition shooting par or better this season. Both golfers shot 3-under in the first round, tied for the best on the team.
Freshman Hsin Tai Lin and senior Lauryn Nguyen both shot a 1-under 215, tied for 12th. The competition marked Lin’s second time shooting par or better in her career.
NU returns to action for the Silverado Showdown in Napa, California April 7.
