What seemed to be never-ending gloomy weather has finally vanished. You know exactly what that means … It’s summertime! The warmest season of the year not only brings much sunshine, but many more opportunities to be out and about with friends and family.
Whether it be in Colorado’s Red Rocks Park and Amphitheatre or attending Lollapalooza in Grant Park, the way we dress will adapt as temperatures rise in the coming weeks. Have no clue as to what will define the summer? Beach, please!

Sunglasses
Personally, I stand firm that any type of shades can be a signature accessory throughout the year. I mean, some of my personal icons like Anna Wintour, Charli xcx and Karl Lagerfeld have made them a part of their signature looks. However, I do understand that you may not want to add some frames until it hurts to squint at Lake Michigan. Recently, I’ve been loving the adidas Sport KENTRO and Timberland’s TB00006 sunglasses for exploring the city or listening to outdoor live music. But, as long as the frames fit your outfit and make you feel good, you will survive the summer.
Floral brooches
To whoever decided that brooches are only for mature women or only belong on formalwear, check yourself. Not only can they be added to a blazer’s lapel, but they can be a captivating piece almost anywhere on your clothes. Wearing them on the collar, waist and across the chest can add elegance without sacrificing style. Alternatively, it can give some glamour to your shoes and plain necklaces and even serve as an anchor to flowy scarfs. Since the flowers have bloomed, encapsulate their beauty in the form of a brooch this summer.
Lace
This might sound pretty well-known to some, but not to all. Despite the assumption that it’s only appropriate for the bedroom, lace is a versatile yet stylish look that won’t roast you under the sun. Since I believe shades like aqua blue and butter yellow will be popular this summer, lace in neutral tones can balance out an outfit quite well. Whether the lace is a sheer white top on the beach or a black maxi dress for a night out, consider yourself and your style safe from a last-minute outfit change.
Statement hats
As many fashion lovers saw on the runway this Spring-Summer 2026 season, it’s time to put away the beach hat and embrace the quirky cap. Let’s bring the whimsy back to all parts of our outfit, and that includes the very thing that protects our scalp from the heat! From Jonathan Anderson’s Dior debut collection showcasing tricorn-esque hats, to Chanel’s striped cloche hats under Matthieu Blazy, we can do better than the floppy sunhat that has defined headwear for decades.
Loafers
Similarly to sunglasses, I truly do love a loafer for any occasion. But, it still gets categorized as a shoe solely for business or formal purposes. For the feminine dresser, penny, tassel and chunky sole loafers are great for some height, polish and durability wherever you may travel this summer. For a masculine look, horsebit, driving, slipper and formal pump-style loafers are not only comfortable, but styles that will add to your current taste in fashion.
