In a series of messages on Tuesday evening, Evanston/Skokie School District 65 Superintendent Angel Turner announced the appointments of two new principals to lead Lincoln Elementary School and Chute Middle School.
David Davis will serve as the next principal of Lincoln Elementary. Since 2019, Davis has served as principal of Kingsley Elementary School, which is set to close after the 2025-26 school year.
In a message to the Lincoln community in early April, Turner announced that current Lincoln Principal Amber Samuels would not return to the school after the end of this school year. The announcement did not disclose a reason for this decision.
Lawrence Prentice will be Chute’s next principal. Prentice spent nearly a decade as a teacher and leader in Chicago Public Schools, Turner’s announcement read. Most recently, he served as the assistant principal at Gwendolyn Brooks College Preparatory High School.
Prentice will fill the position of current Chute Principal Ann Riemenschneider, who announced her retirement in March.
According to Turner’s announcements, both will assume their new positions on July 1.
Turner encouraged families to look out for a welcome message from both incoming principals and opportunities to connect with the two later this summer.
