Northwestern plans to increase student tuition for the 2026-27 academic year, interim President Henry Bienen said in an interview Thursday with The Daily.
“We’re going to raise tuition again next year,” he said.
Undergraduate full-time tuition per student cost $69,375 for the 2025-26 academic year, with total expenses estimated at $96,236, according to the Office of Undergraduate Admission website.
Still, Bienen said substantial tuition increases may not be sustainable long-term. Current conditions may limit how much tuition can be raised compared to previous years, he said.
“I don’t think that’s a great climate for the research universities,” Bienen said. “We can’t price ourselves. We can’t keep raising tuition.”
