Northwestern extended the deadline to drop full-term Spring Quarter classes from Friday to Monday, the Office of the Provost announced Friday in an email.
The announcement, from Assistant Provost and University Registrar Jaci Casazza and Associate Provost for Undergraduate Education Karen Smilowitz, comes after NU’s Canvas site went down Thursday at 3 p.m. due to an alleged website breach.
“This extension provides the time faculty, graders and teaching assistants need to carefully assess your work and ensures that you can make informed decisions about dropping classes, including giving you time to consult an advisor during business hours on Monday,” the email read.
NU’s Canvas site remains unavailable for use, but NU Information Technology Canvas admins have regained access to the system, according to an NUIT Incident Report at 1:36 p.m. Friday.
NUIT will provide an update on the outage later Friday afternoon, Casazza and Smilowitz’s email read.
