Student robbed on Foster Street

A Northwestern student was robbed while walking on Foster Street on Wednesday evening, according to an emergency e-mail alert sent out by the University.

The woman was walking along the 900 block of Foster Street around 7:45 p.m. when someone approached her from behind and grabbed her purse before fleeing, the e-mail said. The woman screamed and attracted the attention of people nearby, who saw the robber and told him to drop the purse.

The woman recovered her purse and reported nothing missing from it, the e-mail said. She suffered minor injuries but declined to seek medical attention.

The e-mail described the robber as a white male between 18 and 22 years old, six feet tall and with short or balding blond hair. He wore a gray hooded sweatshirt and long, dark pants.
