Northwestern finished 14th at the NCAA Championship Finals in Carlsbad, California on Monday. The team placed ahead of eight teams ranked in Clippd’s most recent top-25 poll to close out the Wildcats’ season.
Senior Dianna Lee concluded her collegiate career in a tie for 18th place individual result, landing 1-under par overall. She completed her last round at the 72-hole, 6,996-yard Omni La Costa Resort & Spa at even-par, sinking a birdie putt on the 18th hole. After opening the tournament with a 2-over par round, she shot 2-under and 1-under par rounds in the second and third rounds before her final round even-par result.
Finishing tied for 53rd individually, junior Ashley Yun’s best round was her first, which she finished 3-under par. She then fired a 2-over par second round before rounding out the tournament with a 5-over and a 4-over in the final two rounds, landing at 8-over par overall.
The next-best ’Cat, freshman Lauren E. Lee, finished tied for 58th in her first career NCAA Championship Finals. She earned an even-par result in the second round, but 3-over par finishes in the first and fourth rounds and a 4-over par finish in the third round put her at 10-over par at the end of the tournament.
Sophomore Megan Meng followed in a tie for 64th. She completed the first round even-par, but subsequent 4-over par, 1-over par and 6-over par results landed her at 11-over par overall.
Rounding out the ’Cats’ team was sophomore Hsin Tai Lin, who finished tied for 82nd and at 19-over par.
The ’Cats left the NCAA Championships Finals with a combined score of 1,177 strokes.
