Northwestern has a near-complete roster following the addition of former Columbia and Richmond forward Ryan Soulis, who announced his commitment Friday on Instagram. Soulis has two years of eligibility remaining and is the Wildcats’ seventh addition from the transfer portal.

At Columbia last season, 6-foot-10 Soulis averaged 5.8 points, 4.6 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 1 block. He averaged 20 minutes per game and started in 17 of the Lions’ 28 games.

Soulis is from Athens, Greece and represented Greece at the FIBA U20 EuroBasket tournament in July.

He spent his first two seasons at Richmond, redshirting his first season following a right foot injury. However, due to Ivy League prohibitions on redshirting, Soulis was listed as a sophomore for Columbia.

Soulis is a late portal addition for a depleted ’Cats roster that lost nine players to the transfer portal following a lackluster season. NU finished the season 15-19 overall and 5-15 in Big Ten matchups.

Soulis joins guard Aleksej Kostić, forward Okku Federiko, guard LA Pratt, forward Colin Smith, forward Luke McEldon and forward Jack Karasinski in the growing list of transfer portal additions by coach Chris Collins.

Sophomore guard Angelo Ciaravino, freshman guard Jake West and freshman guard Phoenix Gill are the only three returning players for the ’Cats.

Incoming freshmen Symon Ghai, Jayden Hodge and Elijah Eschmeyer will join the ’Cats next season. Ghai and Hodge are four-star recruits and Eschmeyer, the son of former All-American and NU center Evan Eschmeyer, is a preferred walk-on.

NU’s roster has reached 13 players, leaving just two more roster spots available.
