Released on April 1, Season 4 keeps critics and devoted fans of the show as invested as ever.
The new season welcomes both familiar and unfamiliar faces. Viewers are introduced to 25 year-old Logan, while catching up with fan favorites such as 27-year-old Madison, who fell for her boyfriend Tyler on Season 3.
Madison moved to Plant City, Florida to be closer to Tyler, unpacking her large-scale Disney and Barbie princess collection. Arranging her dolls, Madison talks about navigating a life without atypical representation. She says she wishes there was an “autistic princess.”
The next episode features a romantic rendezvous between the couple on Valentine’s Day, as Tyler recognizes the couple’s southern roots and sings “Livin’ on Love” by Alan Jackson.
Later that evening, Tyler would get down on one knee and propose to Madison.
Following the proposal, viewers catch up with Connor, getting an inside look on his seemingly tumultuous relationship with Georgie.
Connor doubts whether Georgie sincerely cares for him. Due to her sarcastic nature, their conversations feel ingenuine.
For the first time, Connor confronts differences in their familial upbringings. Georgie explains her family and how they often tease each other. Rather than understanding, Connor can’t seem to grasp the differences in sarcasm versus reality.
As Connor and Georgie work through these conflicts with the help of his mother Lise, the show reveals its duality, emphasizing young people eager to find love and support systems around them.
Logan, one of the cast’s new participants in Season 4, navigates unfamiliar territory romantically, as he experiences his first date and first kiss. His only previous experiences were with his imaginary girlfriend, Tifa.
Overall, “Love on the Spectrum” serves as a refreshing break from what can seem like an overwhelmingly bleak modern dating pool.
