Located at the intersection of Dempster Street and Chicago Avenue, Sea Ranch Sushi offers fresh and tasty Japanese food at an affordable price.
This year, Sea Ranch won for Best Budget Menu. Sushi is usually thought of as a splurge, but with roll prices ranging from about $3 to $15 and nigiri pieces priced from around $2 to $6, Sea Ranch’s prices make it an everyday reality.
If you aren’t in the mood for sushi, the restaurant also makes delicious udon, ramen and soba noodles for around $10 per bowl.
Sea Ranch also functions as a Japanese grocery store, stocked with items like Pocky, Ramune and more to satisfy additional cravings.
The restaurant also won Best Takeout this year, and I wholeheartedly agree.
Sea Ranch was one of the first restaurants I had the pleasure of trying in Evanston. As a then-high school student here for the summer, I took a Northwestern student’s advice and ordered Sea Ranch to campus. When I opened the takeout box and saw the nigiri and rolls, I knew that it would become one of my favorites in Evanston. I would not be exaggerating to say it’s one of the reasons I hoped to come back to Evanston for college.
Now, I order it more weekends than not.
In a few months, when spring starts to transition to summer, I can’t wait to order from Sea Ranch and enjoy some fresh sushi lounging at Clark Street Beach.
