Former assistant to the city manager Kimberly Richardson was promoted to deputy city manager, according to a Wednesday press release.

Richardson has served in her current role at the city manager’s office since February 2016. In her new position, she will oversee various operations within the office, including City Council communications, equity and empowerment initiatives and city relations with Northwestern, the release said.

City Manager Wally Bobkiewicz said in the release that the promotion of Erika Storlie to assistant city manager in January left the city “without a key senior City staff member to support a variety of important initiatives.”

“Kimberly Richardson brings many years of local government management experience to the role of deputy city manager,” Bobkiewicz said in the release. “Her keen focus, outstanding analytical skills and excellent understanding of how Evanston works will make her very successful in her new assignment.”
