Days after reports emerged that Northwestern revoked the admission of four-star point guard recruit Jordan Lathon, the Wildcats added three-star guard Ryan Greer to their 2018 recruiting class.

In a Wednesday announcement posted on Twitter, Greer said he will graduate from high school early and reclassify into the class of 2018 to join the NU program this summer. Greer is ranked as the sixth-best recruit in the class of 2019 in the state of Georgia by 247Sports, and he played this past season at the Northfield Mount Hermon School in Massachusetts, the alma mater of current Cats forward Aaron Falzon.

The guard had also received offers from Bucknell, DePaul, Yale and Princeton, according to 247Sports. Although he only has three years of high school basketball experience, Greer will have the chance to make an immediate impact at the guard position for NU.

While the departure of Lathon earlier this week threw a wrench in the Cats’ plans to fill the hole left at point guard by senior Bryant McIntosh’s graduation, Greer’s arrival will bring more depth to the NU lineup. Greer will join senior Jordan Ash, sophomore Anthony Gaines and graduate transfer Ryan Taylor in competition at the guard position.
