The Office of the Provost has created two new staff positions, Provost Jonathan Holloway announced in an email to faculty and staff Monday.

The two new positions are vice provost for academics and vice provost for administration. The changes are effective Dec. 1, the email said.

According to the email, Lindsay Chase-Lansdale, the current associate provost for faculty, will become the vice provost for academics. Jake Julia, the current associate provost for academic initiatives and associate vice president for change management, will serve as the new vice provost for administration.

Julia will also serve as Holloway’s chief of staff, the email said.

“These changes are designed to enhance services and offer advanced support in key areas to faculty, staff and students,” Holloway said in the email. “These changes will help me more actively engage with a wider range of groups and individuals across our community while developing and managing strategic priorities and emerging opportunities.”

Andrea Bueschel, the current assistant provost for faculty, will transition into associate provost for strategy and policy, and Marianna Kepka will transition from assistant provost for academic initiatives into the role of associate vice president for change management, the email said.

More appointments will be made in the next few weeks to fill the empty positions caused by the changes, Holloway said in the email.

“Everyone in the Office of the Provost looks forward to working closely with you as we continue doing everything we can to realize Northwestern’s research, teaching and service ambitions,” Holloway said in the email.
