Three juveniles and one man were charged with disobedience to the police in a public place after trying to run away from officers Tuesday night, police said.

At about 6:30 p.m., six young men entered Zen Shiatsu Chicago in south Evanston, Evanston police Cmdr. Joseph Dugan said. While being distracted by one of the men, the business owner’s car keys were stolen from the pocket of her coat, Dugan said.

Once police arrived on the scene, the group of six fled. Although two escaped the situation, the juvenile was caught along with three others on Main Street. The three juveniles were charged with disobedience to police in a public place, two of them also being charged with theft. One older man was charged with disobedience to the police in a public place, Dugan said.

Chicago resident charged with unlawful possession of marijuana

A Chicago resident was charged with a felony of unlawful possession of cannabis with the intention to deliver on Tuesday, police said.

At about 12:45 a.m., police pulled over a black car in the 1400 block of Fowler Avenue, Dugan said. Once the officer pulled over the car, which had missed two stop signs, he asked the driver to step out of the vehicle after smelling cannabis.

During the search the officer found five clear, individually-wrapped plastic bags in his sweatshirt, each containing suspected cannabis. The bags weighed about 9.2 grams, Dugan said.

He was charged with a felony of unlawful possession of cannabis with the intention to deliver and two citations for the stop signs.
