Four people were shot in Evanston on Tuesday night during a gathering around Foster Street and Jackson Avenue, but none of the victims suffered life-threatening injuries, Evanston police Cmdr. Joseph Dugan told The Daily.

Dugan said shots were fired at around 10 p.m. by an unknown suspect. According to an Evanston Police Department news release, witnesses said multiple individuals were standing in the area when the suspect fired several gunshots at the group from a field north of the location.

Three of the victims are Evanston residents, including a 19-year-old woman who was shot in the ankle and went to Evanston Hospital on her own. A 32-year-old Skokie resident was shot in the head and, following the attack, drove himself to the 800 block of Clark Street where he reported the incident.

Dugan said at least three of the victims have been released from the hospital. Police continued their investigations on Wednesday but have made no arrests, he said.

“They went back in the daylight this morning and collected some more evidence,” Dugan said. “They’re going to re-interview all of the victims … to move forward with the investigation.”
