Lightning strike causes structure fire in Evanston

The Evanston Fire Department responded to reports of smoke after lightning struck the house located at 1506 Wesley Ave. around 8:19 p.m. Wednesday.

According to a press release, neighbors called after seeing smoke coming from the roof of the two-story house following the lightning strike. Responders were able to locate and extinguish the fire, which started in the attic, and the situation was brought under control at 9:41 p.m.

The homeowner will be displaced due to the fire, and there were no reports of injuries, according to the release.
