A 45-year-old Chicago man was shot in the arm in the 900 block of Howard Street on Wednesday night, police said.

The man told police he pulled into a parking lot at approximately 8:50 p.m. when another man whom he recognized from a prior traffic altercation approached his window and fired two shots, Evanston Police Department spokesman Perry Polinski said in an email to The Daily.

The Chicago man’s girlfriend had been in the passenger seat during the shooting and drove him to Presence Saint Francis Hospital, Polinski said.

The suspect was described as a 25-year-old black male with a goatee who was wearing a black fleece and hat, Polinski said. The suspect fled on foot toward Chicago, Polinski added.

The man’s injuries are non-life threatening, Polinski said.
