The Evanston History Center launched an online fundraising campaign Monday for the duration of February as part of a larger effort to preserve a historic mansion in the city.

EHC is aiming to raise $1,000 per day through the month of February, the organization announced. The campaign, hosted on a Crowdrise site, has already secured a $29,000 matching gift.

The center announced it is currently in the midst of a $4 million capital campaign to establish an endowment for the organization and raise money for renovations to the Charles Gates Dawes House, an 1894 mansion that contains historic materials, archives and artifacts.
