A 58 year-old man was arrested Tuesday in connection with stealing a pair of shoes from a department store in south Evanston.

A security guard at Marshalls, 2400 Main St., told police he saw the Skokie man place two pairs of shoes in a brown paper bag at about 8:30 p.m. and leave without paying, said Evanston police Cmdr. Joseph Dugan. The security guard brought the man back into the store to return the shoes and called the police, Dugan said.

The man was charged with misdemeanor retail theft and is scheduled to appear in court on Dec. 17.
