A car flipped over Thursday morning following a collision with another car at the intersection of Emerson Street and Ridge Avenue, Evanston police said.

No injuries were reported, authorities said. Police and fire officials responded to the incident at about 6:30 a.m., according to a tweet from the Evanston Police Department.

The accident may have occurred when one car ran a red light at the intersection of Emerson Street and Ridge Avenue, clipping a Jeep and overturning it, city manager Wally Bobkiewicz said in an email to Evanston media.

Firefighters removed the driver of the Jeep from his car with help from TV news helicopters that flew over the scene with flood lights, Bobkiewicz said.

Neither of the cars involved in the accident had any passengers, Bobkiewicz said.

Police blocked off all lanes at the intersection as emergency officials dealt with the accident, according to a tweet from EPD. All lanes were back open by 7:15 a.m.
