Event: NU Gives Back Where: Evanston and Chicago communities When: Saturday, May 19 from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Have you always wanted to volunteer but never seem to have the chance? Then sign up for Northwestern’s second annual University-wide day of service. Join undergraduates, graduate students, faculty and staff to volunteer in the local Chicago and Evanston communities. Plus, receive free breakfast and lunch as well as a T-shirt. Event: Boomshaka Presents: “Break the Chain” Where: McCormick Auditorium, Norris University Center When: Thursday, May 10, at 8 p.m., Friday, May 11, at 8 p.m. & 11 p.m., Saturday, May 12, at 8 p.m. & 11 p.m. Cost: $5 for NU students; $10 general public Experience Boomshaka’s one-of-kind spring show. It will feature a unique combination of dance, drumming and stepping. Break from your daily routine and check it out. Event: 13th Annual Marcus Marinho Comedy Beatdown Where: Forum Room, McCormick Tribune Center When: Friday, May 11, at 6:15 p.m. Cost: $5 Spice up your Friday night with a professional comedy show located right on campus. Alianza, the Hispanic/Latino Student Alliance, is hosting this event with free food from around Latin America. The show will include performances by MadTV’s Jill-Michele Melean and The Second City’s Improv All Stars.
