Two men rob Northwestern graduate student

A Northwestern graduate student was the victim of an armed robbery Thursday, according to a University security alert email.

The robbery occurred on the 1100 block of Garnett Place at approximately 2:50 p.m. Two men took a cell phone from the student while he was walking east on Garnett Place from Ridge Avenue.

The student was not hurt in the incident, but one of the offenders displayed a handgun during the robbery, according to the email.

The student used a campus emergency phone at Maple Avenue and Emerson Street, and NU and Evanston police departments responded to the call.

The Evanston Police Department recovered the phone a short distance from the incident location.

The offenders were last seen fleeing westbound from the location of the incident, and the incident is under investigation by the EPD.
