Police break up warehouse party of more than 800 teens

Police shut down a massive party on Saturday in Highland Park after finding an estimated 800 teens in a building and another 150 outside, Highland Park Deputy Police Chief David Schwarz said.

Police were called late Saturday night by a parent concerned with the number of kids attending a party at Warehouse Gym & Boxing Club, 1660 Old Skokie Road in Highland Park. When police arrived at the scene, they determined the building was over capacity and witnessed a large amount of underage drinking. Six intoxicated minors were transported to Highland Park Police Department, 1677 Old Deerfield Road.

Police are currently investigating the warehouse, which is often rented out for youth parties.

Man hides in restaurant bathroom, refuses to pay for dinner

Police arrested a man at Bravo Cucina Italiana, 1701 Maple Ave., Wednesday night after he locked himself in the men’s restroom and refused to pay his $19 dinner bill, Guenther said.

Samuel Calhoun, 607 Lake Ave., ate a meal at the restaurant and left without paying around 10:30 p.m. Calhoun then returned to the restaurant 15 minutes later to use the men’s restroom, when he locked himself inside. When police arrived, Calhoun continued to refuse to pay his bill or leave the bathroom, and he told officers he thought the meal was free.

Calhoun is charged with theft of services. His court date is set for June 1.
