Blotter 1/31: Unconscious driver hits library

Man robbed at gunpoint

A man robbed another man at gunpoint on the 1300 block of Brummel Street late Sunday night, police said.

The robber drove past the man, stopped, and exited his car, Evanston Police Cmdr. Tom Guenther said. Then, the robber approached the man and revealed a black handgun.

The man handed over his keys and cell phone. The robber let him go and drove away.

Man drives into library’s plate glass window

A man ran his car into the Evanston Public Library’s South Branch on Monday afternoon, hitting a plate glass window, according to a fire department news release.

The driver of a van became unconscious and drove through the window of the library, 949 Chicago Ave., around 3 p.m.

The Evanston Fire Department transported the driver to Evanston Hospital, 2650 Ridge Ave., after the incident.

No one was inside the library at the time.
