The prescription for success

Ade Blackburn is known for his voice. Buzzing, high, sinister and occasionally howling, his distinct vocals float above the tribal groove of Clinic’s faster, more furious songs and anchor the heartbreaking slow-tempo pieces.

So it came as some surprise when I answered the phone and heard a man with a warm voice that sounded like a mix of John Lennon’s and Rob Halford’s who identified himself as Ade Blackburn.

It seemed that, despite his odd singing voice, this Liverpool native not only spoke like any other average Liverpudlian (instead of in yells and hums, as I’m sure BjՀ
