NU shoots a dismal 18.2 percent, scoring only eight points in the entire first half against Evansville. The Cats lose 48-26.

Against Oakland, the Cats miss 18 of their first 19 shots and lose 78-65.
January 13, 2000
Cats go scoreless for one
10-minute stretch as Penn State takes 45-15 halftime lead and crushes NU 82-49.
February 19, 2000
Illinois holds NU scoreless for the first 15:13 of the game and wins 63-30.
March 9, 2000
The Cats finish the year 5-25 overall and 0-16 in conference play, becoming the first Big Ten team since the 1991 NU squad to finish the conference season without a win.
March 21, 2000
The family of former NU recruit Andrew Coates, now a freshman at Penn, sues the university, alleging O’Neill reneged on a scholarship offer.
Today
Sophomores David Newman and Steve Lepore, two members of O’Neill’s highly touted 1998 recruiting class, quit the team with plans to transfer. Freshmen Brody Deren and Adam Robinson say they are considering leaving.
