R&B and pop singer Jae Stephens will be the Mainstage opener for Dillo Day, Mayfest Productions announced Thursday evening.
Stephens has music that spans genres, such as her 2000s-house-inspired song “3AM,” a collaboration with producer Baauer and British rapper AJ Tracey, and her more traditional R&B song “Kiss It.”
Stephens released her debut album, “TOTAL SELLOUT,” in 2025 to much acclaim.
“I saw her first ever performance when she opened for FLO last May, and I knew she would be perfect for Dillo Day,” Jevin Benthotage Wijenayake, SESP sophomore and Mayfest Productions member, said in a news release. “She has insane star quality, and I’m glad she’s finally getting the recognition she deserves.”
The Dallas-born singer will return to Chicago following Dillo Day in August to perform at Lollapalooza, her first festival performance.
“Jae Stephens brings the exact kind of smooth, confident energy that belongs on the Dillo Day mainstage,” McCormick sophomore and Mayfest Productions member Alberto Najera said in the news release. “Her sound is nostalgic, fresh, and fun, and I’m excited for students to see why she’s one of R&B’s most exciting rising voices.”
Dillo Day will take place May 16 at the Lakefill, and admission is free for Northwestern undergraduate students.
