Northwestern Libraries removed the mention of diversity on its website, following President Donald Trump’s executive orders against diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives.

Earlier this month, the first statement on the libraries’ “About” page read, “Your library serves the diversity of the Northwestern community.” It was recently changed to “Your library serves the entire of the Northwestern community.”

This is one of a few apparent ways NU has rolled back on DEI initiatives since Trump took office and issued an executive order last month for universities like NU to eliminate DEI policies in federally funded programs. 

The Kellogg School of Management also removed its DEI Pathway, a designation for its MBA students wanting to hone in on skills in a specific area, which debuted in 2021. 

Before that, Feinberg School of Medicine erased its webpage for its Office of Diversity & Inclusion.

Last week, University President Michael Schill sent a community-wide email that said the University is grappling with how it will respond to the “unprecedented pace” of executive orders.
