Blotter: Parked car stolen from outside residence

A woman called police Tuesday morning to report her parked car had been stolen from outside her residence.

Evanston police Cmdr. Ryan Glew said officers responded to an address in the 2000 block of Jackson Avenue at about 9:15 a.m. The caller told officers that her 2013 Ford Explorer had been parked on the street outside her home between 11 p.m. the night before and 9 a.m. that morning, Glew said. The caller told officers the car had been locked, Glew said, but further investigation found that a key to the vehicle was missing.

The woman plans to press charges, Glew said. Police have no suspects and no one in custody.

Cash stolen from dresser in residential burglary

Officers responded Tuesday afternoon to reports of a residential burglary in the 2100 block of Keeney Street.

Glew said a resident of the address returned home at 4 p.m. to find the rear door of the residence unlocked. The resident did not become suspicious, Glew said, until she entered a second floor bedroom and found her change jar overturned and $420 in cash stolen from her dresser drawers, which had been opened.

The resident, who is a minor, called her mother and notified police, Glew said.Police have no suspects and no one in custody.
