A Chicago man was arrested in connection with retail theft Friday morning.

At approximately 12:40 a.m., officers responded to a report of retail theft at the CVS at 101 Asbury Ave., Evanston police communications coordinator Perry Polinski said. Officers spoke with an employee who disclosed that a man had stolen bottles of shampoo –– valued at $55 –– and ran out of the store.

Polinski said the subject fled on foot eastbound on Howard Street. Officers obtained a description of the suspect from CVS employees and broadcasted it over Evanston and Chicago police radio.

A Chicago officer arrested a person matching the description, Polinksi said. The person was searched, identified and charged with retail theft.
