This week on Office Hours, we sat down with sociology and African American studies Prof. Mary Pattillo, whose research focuses on the economic, social and political dynamics of Chicago neighborhoods. Pattillo broke down the process of gentrification, explained the effect it has on the original residents of a community and discussed how Northwestern students can avoid contributing to the gentrification of a neighborhood.
