Police officers are investigating the defacement of a sign at Nichols Middle School, 800 Greenleaf St.

Illegible green spray paint markings were discovered Thursday at about 12:30 p.m. on a sign near the school’s playground, Evanston police Cmdr. Joseph Dugan said. The sign was likely graffitied sometime Wednesday night or Thursday morning, Dugan said.

Car window shattered

A woman discovered her rear window shattered after leaving work at St. Francis Hospital, 355 Ridge Ave., on Thursday evening.

The woman parked her car, a 2008 Mercedes, a little before 7 a.m. She discovered the damage at about 8:20 p.m, Dugan said.

No property was discovered missing from the car, nor were any rocks or projectiles that could have caused the damage. The woman, a 66-year-old Glenview resident, said she has had no feuds or disagreements with people to cause such an incident, Dugan said.
