Man found in Lake Michigan identified as University of Chicago student

A man found dead in Lake Michigan on Friday has been identified as Pengjun Shen, Evanston police said.

Shen, 28, was a University of Chicago graduate student, said Evanston Police Department spokesman Perry Polinski.

He had been last seen Jan. 4 and suffered from depression, according to a missing person report released by the Chicago Police Department.

Chicago police were searching for Shen on Friday afternoon when they discovered his body, clothes and personal items along the shoreline in the 300 block of Sheridan Road, Evanston police said in a news release.
