2014 Grammys Fashion: Pretty gowns that don’t push the envelope

Beyonce’s lace Michael Costello dress was just one of the gorgeous gowns at this year’s Grammys.

Red carpet season promises provocative fashion choices, often fresh off the runway. This year, superstars pulled out all the stops at the Grammys, but, much to my disappointment, risky choices were practically nonexistent. Lesson learned from the 2014 Grammys? Classic beauty never goes out of style. Here are my top four favorites from music’s biggest night. (Please forgive the constant references to song lyrics, but they really were too tempting to omit.)

Taylor Swift

Her metallic gown was a perfect contrast to the deep red carpet. Apparently, people kept saying how much it looked like chainmail. If she can make chainmail look like a sparkly glitter pen, there’s nothing she can’t do. She knows what she’s doing, and she knows it all too well.

Beyonce

There’s the average human, and then there’s Beyonce, who practically constitutes her own perfect species. Not only did her and Jay Z’s rendition of “Drunk in Love” make me fall out of my chair, but her Michael Costello gown was to die for. Queen B showed off her fabulous body in a strategic white lace and nude dress that proved why she runs the world.

Miranda Lambert

Country music stars had a great night for fashion and music alike. Miranda paired her Pamella Roland gown with a deep V with giant gem-like earrings. They look like a geologist and a bead artist got together and these earrings were their children, which I really dig. With her red lipstick and parted waves, her overall look oozed Hollywood glamour.

Ciara

NO ONE HAS EVER LOOKED THIS GOOD PREGNANT. Feel free to show me if you find counterevidence, but she literally glowed in her golden sparkly gown that set off her hair and her skin tone perfectly. She basically embodied a bronze goddess, and I was jealous.
