Thief replaces tires, wheels with bricks under Evanston resident’s car
An unknown person or group of people stole the tires and wheels from a car parked in south Evanston on Tuesday night, police said.
The tires and wheels were taken from a Honda Civic parked in a parking lot near a residence in the 400 block of Callan Avenue, Evanston Police Cmdr. Jay Parrott said.
The car belongs to a 24-year-old Evanston resident who found her car propped up on bricks Wednesday morning, Parrott said. The stolen wheels and tires are valued at $670.
Evanston woman arrested in connection with battery
Police charged a woman with battery and her male acquaintance with disobedience to police Wednesday in west Evanston, Parrott said.
Witnesses reported seeing the Evanston woman, 30, strike a Skokie woman across the face, resulting in a small cut, Parrott said. When police arrived at the scene in the 2300 block of Church Street, one of the women’s acquaintances fled.
Police asked the Evanston man, 21, to stop, but the man continued to run nearly a mile away from the scene to the 2000 block of Dodge Avenue, Parrott said. Police to not know why the man decided to flee.
The man was charged with disobedience to police and is scheduled to appear in court May 28.
The woman was charged with battery. She is scheduled to appear in court June 5.
