Thief steals jewelry from Evanston resident
A thief allegedly stole a jewelry box from an Evanston resident between 9 a.m. Monday and 7:30 a.m. Tuesday.
The 38-year-old man was in the process of moving out of his apartment in the 400 block of Sheridan Road when an unknown person allegedly took a jewelry box from a closet, Evanston Police Department Cmdr. Jay Parrott said. The box reportedly contained a Rolex watch valued at $3,000, a turquoise ring and gold neck chains.
Police are still investigating the case, Parrott said.
Thief steals parking permit sticker
An Evanston resident reported theft of a parking permit sticker from his car Sunday night.
The 67-year-old man reported the residential parking permit sticker was missing from the front window shield of his 1999 Chevrolet parked in the 1800 block of Chancellor Street, Parrott said.
The case is “bizarre” in that residential parking permit stickers usually go on the rear of a car, and only city permit stickers go on the front window shield, Parrott said.
