Chicago resident robbed near Church and Ridge
Three boys robbed an 18-year-old Chicago resident near the corner of Church Street and Ridge Avenue on Wednesday evening, Evanston Police Department Cmdr. Jay Parrott said.
The Chicago man was walking east on Church Street when he heard someone ordering him to empty his pockets. Thinking it was a joke, the man turned around. Two of the boys then held knives against him and repeated the command, Parrott said.
The three took the man’s debit card and $100 in cash, Parrott said.
Chicago Avenue business loses thousands of dollars in equipment after burglary
An Evanston business in the 200 block of Chicago Avenue lost more than $10,000 in equipment in a burglary that occurred between Wednesday afternoon and Thursday morning, Parrott said.
The business owner noticed the office’s emptied cabinets and other parts of the business in disarray at Thursday morning’s opening.
The burglar gained entry by forcing open a panel of the building’s garage door, but Parrott said the exact time the burglar broke into the building is unknown.
The burglar took more than $6,500 in electronics, including a stereo system, and a $6,000 grinder.
