Northwestern lacrosse coach Kelly Amonte Hiller will be inducted into the U.S. Lacrosse Hall of Fame, US Lacrosse announced Wednesday.
The eight-person class, which includes Amonte Hiller’s coach at the University of Maryland Cindy Timchal, will be inducted in an Oct. 20 ceremony in Hunt Valley, Md. The other members of the 2012 class include Jen Adams, Roy Colsey, Brian Dougherty, Missy Foote, Jesse Hubbard and Tim Nelson.
“It is a great honor to be inducted into the National Lacrosse Hall of Fame and it is even more special to be inducted with this incredible class,” Amonte Hiller said in a statement. “It is very special to me that this class includes my coach and mentor Cindy Timchal.”
Amonte Hiller will be inducted based on her playing career at the University of Maryland in the late 1990s. She was a four-time All-American, including a three-time first team honoree. She was named the national defensive player of the year in 1995 and the national offensive player of the year in 1996 while leading the Terrapins to back-to-back national titles in those seasons.
Following her collegiate career, Amonte Hiller played with the U.S. Women’s National Team while competing at the 1997, 2001 and 2005 Women’s Lacrosse World Cup. She earned All-World Team honors after the 2005 tournament.
