Anti-immigration graffiti found on Evanston Metra bridges

Evanston Police Department discovered three instances of anti-immigration graffiti painted on Metra viaducts around 11 a.m. Tuesday, said Evanston Police Department Cmdr. Tom Guenther.

Graffiti on one viaduct read, “Whites will be minorities by 2042 at current rates of immigration. Will that benefit any group? Or will we just be poorer? Face difficult truths.” Another wall was painted with the words “Let America decline, support mass immigration. Demography is destiny.”

The graffiti covered Metra viaducts at Lincoln Street and Green Bay Road, Central Street and Green Bay Road, and Livingston Street and Green Bay Road. Guenther said that while the graffiti appears in separate locations, it is almost certain that the anti-immigration-fueled sentiments are related. This is the second incident of similar graffiti in the past month.

Middle schooler hit with bike lock

Police responded to Haven Middle School, 2417 Prairie Ave., Wednesday morning after a student reported another student hitting her with a bike lock.

The student said she was parking her bike at 8 a.m. when another student ordered her to give him the bike and then proceeded to hit her in the head with a metal bike lock, Guenther said. The female student relinquished her bike, but police later recovered it for her.
