NU student takes tumble down library stairwell, hits head

A female Northwestern student fell down six stairs in the second floor stairwell of the University Library, hitting her head on the way down, police said.

The student later complained of head pain and scrapes on her left arm and reported losing consciousness, said University Police Deputy Chief Daniel McAleer.

The Evanston Fire Department arrived at the library, 1970 Campus Drive, and provided medical attention to the student before transporting her to Evanston Hospital, 2650 Ridge Ave., McAleer said.

Evanston apartment burglarized, front door found damaged

Suspects ransacked an Evanston apartment Monday, police said.

A neighbor found the front door of the apartment, on the 300 block of Kedzie Street, damaged at 2:45 p.m. due to a forced entry, said Evanston Police Cmdr. Tom Guenther.Suspects stole computer and camera equipment as well as coins from the apartment, police said.

The incident occurred after the resident left the apartment Monday morning, Guenther said. Police are investigating.
